The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to replace a bridge on N.C. 200 (Morgan Mill Road) over Stewarts Creek in Union County

Project Overview
The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace the bridge over Stewarts Creek on NC 200 (Morgan Mill Road) in Union County. the existing bridge is considered structurally deficient which means the existing bridge is considered structurally deficient. A bridge is structurally deficient if it is in relatively poor condition or has insufficient load-carrying capacity
Proposed Improvements:
- Construction of new bridge east of the existing bridge
- New bridge will accommodate two 11-foot lanes and 5-foot on either side for potential future sidewalk
- Realignment of N.C. 200 to connect to new bridge
- Realignment of Deese Road to connect to N.C. 200 realignment
- Realignment will provide improved sight distance for motorists turning onto N.C. 200
The existing bridge will remain open during construction.
