The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to widen Swift Creek Road in front of Johnston Regional Airport in Johnston County.

Project Overview:
The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing widening Swift Creek Road to include a center turn lane in front of Johnston Regional Airport for approximately 0.5 miles in Johnston County N.C. The widening will take place from approximately 0.3 miles north of Johnston Regional Airport to approximately 0.2 miles west of the existing Rock Pillar Road. As a part of the project, Rock Pillar Road, which intersects Swift Creek Road across from Johnston County Regional Airport, will be realigned 210 feet to the west. Traffic will be maintained onsite during construction. Construction is anticipated to begin in Fall 2030.
