Project Overview

The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing improvements to the U.S. 64 (West Mountain Street) and North Washington Street intersection in Rutherfordton. This includes the conversion of the intersection to a single-lane roundabout. The purpose of the project is to improve the operation and mobility of the existing five-point intersection, improving traffic flow and safety for the area.

 

Project Highlights

The project, located in Rutherfordton, involves converting the intersection of U.S. 64 (West Mountain Street) and North Washington Street to a single-lane roundabout. Access to Hickory Street will be removed from the U.S. 64 (West Mountain Street) and North Washington Street intersection. Access to Hickory Street will continue from North Washington Street and a turnaround bulb will be constructed.
