Project Overview

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to improve U.S. 13 from Saulston Road (S.R. 1572) to Rodell Barrow Road (S.R. 1700) by adding center turn lanes and realigning the following intersections:

  • U.S. 13 and Hill Loop Road
  • U.S. 13 and True Vine Road
  • U.S. 13 and Rodell Barrow Road in order to meet current design standards

The roadway will be widened along the corridor to allow for addition of a center turn lane and ditches will be widened to enhance vehicle safety.

The purpose for the project is to increase storage capacity and improve mobility along this portion of U.S. 13.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed. The following information explains right of way acquisition and answers questions about the process.
