B-5986: Bridge on N.C. 231 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad - Wendell - Wake Co.
The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to replace the bridge on N.C. 231 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Wendell.
The purpose of the proposed project is to improve safety along N.C. 231 by replacing the structurally deficient bridge.
*This does not mean the bridge is unsafe. Structurally deficient means it is in relatively poor condition and/or has insufficient load- carrying capacity, which may be due to the original design or due to deterioration.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS
Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed.
