R-5100A: Williamson Rd Widening (I-77 to Brawley School Rd)
Project Overview
The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to widen Williamson Road between I-77 and Brawley School Road in Mooresville, N.C. The proposed project will improve Williamson Road to a four-lane, median-divided facility with a five-foot sidewalk on the east side and a 10-foot side path along the west side. The purpose of this project is to reduce congestion and improve traffic operations and safety.
Two alternatives were considered for R-5100A:
No-Build Alternative
Eliminated based on not meeting the purpose and need for the project.
Build Alternative
Best-fit alignment due to residential and commercial development in the corridor.
