Project Overview:

The N.C. department of Transportation proposes to replace and widen Bridge on Cicero Riggs Road (S.R. 1232) over Tributary of Deep Creek in Craven County. 

Project Highlights: 

The project proposes to replace Bridge on Cicero Riggs Road with a new structure in place. The build alternative proposes two, 10’ travel lanes with three-foot paved shoulders. deck width of the bride is to be 26-feet. The project is expected to be implemented through an off-site detour. The off-site detour route includes Cicero Riggs Road (S.R. 1232), Trenton Road/ S. Main Street (S.R. 1001), E. Sunset Blvd./ Old US HWY 70 (S.R. 1005), Prentiss Riggs Road (S.R. 1233), for a total of 4.1 miles.

Project History:

The project was recently restarted and will include a Federal Categorical Exclusion (CE) document. The CE Document is scheduled to be completed in March 2022.

Information will be provided to the public in a virtual format on this website. The public comment period ended for this portion of development on March 4, 2022.
