Project Overview:

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to extend Ranch Road on new location between U.S. 70 Business and Little Creek Church Road and to re-align the intersection of Ranch Road and Little Creek Church Road. The project addresses the lack of a direct connection between the N.C. 42 East and U.S. 70 Bypass.  

Proposed Improvements: 

  • Extend Ranch Road on new location between U.S. 70 Business and Little Creek Church Road

  • Improve the intersection of Little Creek Road and Ranch Road

Public Input:

Due to Covid 19, NCDOT has suspended in-person meetings.  Information will be provided to the public in a virtual format on this website beginning November 10, 2020. The public is encouraged to provide comments or share their thoughts regarding the proposed alternatives concepts below.

This project is listed in the N.C. Department of Transportation's State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) as Project No. U-6223 and is funded for $8.4 million.

Project History: 

  • June 2019 – The project was added to STIP at request of the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO)
  • January 2020 - Contingency funds from state legislature received to cover the required 20% match
  • March 2020 - Simpson Engineers and Associates contracted to complete project planning and environmental document
