Project Overview:

The N.C. department of Transportation proposes to replace and widen Bridge on Moonlight Road (S.R. 1003) over Tributary of Deep Creek in Halifax County. 

Project Highlights: 

The project proposes to replace Bridge over Moonlight Creek with a new bridge with two, 11’ travel lanes and 4 foot 5 inch shoulders. Paved shoulders on both sides expand to six feet as the travel lane approaches the bridge. The deck width of the bride is to be 33-feet. The project is expected to be implemented through an off-site detour. The off-site detour route includes Mary Chapel Road (S.R.1117), US 258/ Main Street and NC 125, for a total of
10.2 miles.

Project History:

The project was initiated in 2013 and was formerly known as 17BP.4.R.25. The project was recently restarted and will include a Federal Categorical Exclusion (CE) document which is the project environmetnal document. The environmental Document is scheduled to be completed Fall 2021.

Information will be provided to the public in a virtual format on this website. The public comment period ended for this portion of development on Nov. 19, 2021.
