Project Overview

The N.C. Department of Transportation proposes to improve the intersection at N.C. 42 and Piney Grove-Wilbon Road in Fuquay-Varina.

Currently, the project intersection is a four-way signalized intersection without designated turn lanes. The addition of a roundabout at the project location is intended to improve safety and mobility in the project area.

This project proposes to construct a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of N.C. 42 and Piney Grove-Wilbon Road. The roundabout will have a single 18-foot travel lane around a 45-foot radius concrete island. A concrete truck apron will be constructed around the island to allow large vehicles to safely navigate the roundabout.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed. The following information explains right of way acquisition and answers questions about the process.
