U-6018: N.C. 62 Archdale
U-6018: N.C. 62 Archdale
Preliminary Engineering Activities for this project
have resumed.
The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to make improvements near the I-85//N.C. 62 interchange in Archdale. The project involves realigning both Kersey Valley Road and Weant Road near their intersections with N.C. 62 in order to move the intersections farther away from the I-85 interchange ramps. Improvements will also be made along existing N.C. 62 between Kersey Valley Road and Weant Road to improve traffic operations along this section of N.C. 62.
Vicinity and Study Area Map
Project Highlights
Kersey Valley Road
A new roadway, which will intersect N.C. 62, will be constructed approximately 800 feet west of existing Kersey Valley Road.
The new roadway will tie into existing Kersey Valley Road approximately 1,200 feet north of N.C. 62.
The portion of existing Kersey Valley Road between N.C. 62 and the new road will be removed.
Weant Road
A new roadway, east of the existing Weant Road, will be constructed. This new roadway will intersect N.C. 62 at Modlin Grove Road.
Existing Weant Road will remain in place.
The new road will tee into existing Weant Road and a roundabout will be constructed at this new intersection.
N.C. 62
Will be widened to a three-lane facility through the project limits
Will have curb and gutter and a concrete median will be installed at various locations throughout the N.C. 62 corridor to provide safety for and separation of vehicles traveling in opposite directions along the corridor.

RESOURCES FOR PROPERTY OWNERS
Although the N.C. Department of Transportation works to minimize the number of homes and businesses displaced by a road project, it is inevitable, in many cases, that a certain amount of private property is needed.
